If Max is doing it, it MUST be a good idea!

So... I too will have to admit to starting up a blog. If I'm good I'll post about once a week. Primarily it'll be work adventures or whatever. I may even link to pictures if I ever remember to take my camera into the field with me. Nothing too exciting.

Anywho, the link is: http://oldgraycat.com/sarah/client/index.cfm

Beth made the site for me. Its pretty nice I think! Old gray cat is her site and the other link at the top is too my susuwatari site that will eventually get up dated with florida pictures (again depending on when I get my camera out there).

This Is Probably A Dumb Idea

In response to criticism that I am bad at keeping in touch with people, I have decided to start a blog. Rather then try to change my habits and 'go the extra mile,' my solution is to write about myself on the internet.

This pretty much proves how awesome I am.

Here it is.

Sarah in Gatorland

This is just to let you know that Sarah has arrived in Florida. She got there Friday evening--about a 14-hour drive (including a little getting lost in Florida). She spent Saturday and Sunday getting oriented to the job with the previous person in the job. While on a count of salamander larvae in some ponds she had her first encounter with an alligator. (He darted into the pond they were going to survey, so they decided to survey it some other time.) She's in temporary housing and will be looking for an apartment very soon. I don't know what her Internet access will be like.

Where were you 12 years ago today?

I'll give you some hints: The high temperature was 2 degrees Farenheit, Max and Matthew were short and dancing like mad, and it was probably the first and last time the Eddy brothers were seen in a golf club.

Oh...and can you name the handsome men at the bar?

I'm gainfully employeed once more!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I accepted the job in Florida. As of next Friday I'll be working in the Panhandle on a military base doing biological survey. The military base used to be a National Forest (dunno how/why it was converted to a military operation) so its basically a huge wilderness area. I will be working with salamanders, florida bog frogs and an endangered woodpecker.

For the first time ever, I'm responsible for finding my own apartment, so I'm gonna have my own place. Very exciting! If anyone wants to come visit you are more than welcome. Phillip is talking about coming down for spring break maybe... I DO recommend coming in the spring before it gets miserabley hot (or fall if I'm still there). This will probably be the spot I stay until I get into graduate school (which could be this fall or who knows when...). I get benefits and the job lasts as long as I want it too.

I will probably be living in a town called niceville, which is kinda creepy...

What's all this fuss about a rock?

Alright already. Here's the rock. Turns out Allen's grandmother was a lady Sumo wrestler (who knew?). Happily, she married an enterprising diamond miner who was able to come up with a stone that was proportionate to his bride. Karen actually wears it as a bracelet. The diamond can unscrew from the band and be used as a doorknob or a disco mirror ball as the occasion arises. This versatile item is shown here in its paperweight mode.

Karen/Allen visit

Yes, Karen and Allen came here on Saturday afternoon and stayed till Sunday afternoon. It was a great visit; Allen passed muster by thinking the famous video of Karen, Paul, Sarah and Phillip was cute! Mike came out Sat. afternoon, Steve and Mary and boys came out before taking off for Greenfield, Sarah went over to Swensen's Sat. morning and Rob and family went with us to Christos for dinner.
I think everyone really liked Allen. I did because he washed breakfast dishes Sun. am.
The ring is beautiful! It is platinum-a ring that belonged to his grandmother.
There is a diamond in the center with chips around it. I gave Karen your message, Jamie, about putting a picture of it on the computer. There was talk about how she could do that.
I am having eye trouble again-trouble that disappeared while you were all here so I need you to come back again!!!

Let's see that rock!

So, did Karen and Allen ever show up in West Lafayette? We never heard anything up here! Could someone please fill us in?

Brokeback Mountain: Why is it such a bad movie?

Hey all.
I went and saw "Brokeback Mountain" the other day.
After all the jokes that I made over the Christmas break, it seemed only right that I go see it.
Fortunately for free.

Well Kids, its horrid. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. It moves with geological slowness. If this movie was marathon runner it would be a one-legged man pulling three no-legged dogs while trying to play The Star Spangled Banner on bagpipes.

I don't care what Rolling Stone. It's a silly movie.
