Update from Sarah

I just wanted to tell you guys about a great book series, Artemis Fowl. I just finished the third book in the storyline, but there's still one more book with some "Other Stuff" in it. The order of the series is "Artemis Fowl", "Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incedent", "Artemis Fowl: The Eternity Code", and "The Artemis Fowl Files"(The other stuff book). This has been Miles Eddy Reveiws, Miles Eddy, Over and Out!

Bad Week for Eddy Left Hands

On Sunday morning Bonnie's horse spooked at a clump of tall grass (go figure!) and bucked her off. She landed on her left hand. She, of course, didn't want the horse to think he'd gotten away with something and remounted and rode him around for a bit. Then we drove into the Urgent Care for X-rays that showed she had indeed fractured a bone. An orthopedist would call her to set up an appointment for a cast.

Yesterday (Tuesday) the orthopedist called and said some bone was displaced and that surgery would be the best solution. Also Phillip called my office from the same urgent care Bonnie had been at on Sunday to say that he'd shot a nail through two fingers of his left hand while using a nail gun to do some framing on a house. The nail was still embedded there while we talked--he was awaiting the doctor's arrival. Our conversation ened with the doctor coming in. The nail came out pretty easily and seems not to have damaged any bones. Phillip seems to be doing okay.

Bonnie's surgery was this morning (Wednesday) and it went fine. She now has a nice titanium plate in her wrist secured by five screws--I saw the x-ray. The doctor assures us that it will not set off airport security alarms. She's pretty groggy.

The amazing thing about the timing of these occurences is that we've got two fields of hay that are ready to be cut and baled, and most of the haying crew is suddenly incapcitated!

Update on Dad

Took Dad to Dr. Zawadsky today because he has been too weak to do much except move from one chair to the couch! He was also very short of breath. I had noticed a rash on one arm just before we went. It took Dr. Z only one look to say that it is shingles! Since that is a virus she said that is why he has felt so bad. She gave him medication for the virus and a pain killer in case he needs it. So far he hasn't complained much of discomfort. We are not to let him go around anyone who has not had chicken pox. She also says she hears "gunk" in his left lung and wants a blood test and chest x ray right away. One was due for our next visit to Dr. Harb in August, but she wants it done right away.
Tonight he ate his dinner for the first time in days. He has been taking a few bites and saying he was full, but tonight he ate barbecusd pork on a bun, an ear of corn and radishes. I am going to give him canteloupe a little later. Too bad his wife's appetite has not been affected.

To ye olde gamers out thur!

I've recently read a reveiw on the game Advance Wars for GBA. I would be posting this on my blog but it's not checked to much... so I'm posting here. It seems like it would be a pretty sweet game, but I was wondering if some of the small group of gamers in this family have heard anything a bout it. (Bad or good, I need a general oppinion.)

Well, it let me type in the title and then proceeded to publish it! Anyway I almost forgot to post the July birthdays. Lisa's is the 8th and Sarah's the 31st. Hope I haven't forgotten anyone.
Happy 4th to all of you! We are invited to Rob and Melissa's for a cook out. Rob claims to be the family manager and demands a salary! Wish you Ky. and MI Eddys were going to be with us.
Had a great day yesterday with a visit from Mike, a call from Karen, a visit from Steve's family , a call from Rob and then a call from Sarah. What a day!
By the way, my vote for the most loyal contributor to this blog goes to Max!

Max Reviews Gore's Movie and Come to Grips with Al

Max has posted a review of An Inconvenient Truth on his Alive and Kicking blog. He thinks the movie is pretty good and he comes to a belated appreciation of Al Gore. The film, coupled with recent greenhouse-related climatic disasters, seems to have revived people's interest in Gore; maybe it reminds them that politicians, even presidential candidates, don't have to be idiots! In recent weeks I've heard Al touted as the man to beat if Hillary falters; maybe he's reading from the Richard Nixon playbook wherein the former vice president loses presidential campaign and comes back eight years later in triumph. Anyway, here are Max's thoughts on the film and Gore. I hope to see the movie sometime over the long weekend for the Fourth--seems like the patriotic thing to do.
