NCAA Update: 3 Eddys Higher than Obama

Current standings of the Eddys competing in NCAA tournament is as follows

Okay, President Obama isn't really competing with us, but I thought it be interesting to see where he'd come in. Good thing he's better at other things!

Looks like the younger generation is beating out the older handily. All three of our leaders are above the 80th percentile, while Mike and Steve are down around the tenth. Can anyone explain that?

We also have the phenomenon of the mysterious "shoeman155" entry from a "w.eddy" whom we've been unable to identify. (He's actually in fourth place.) I set the team up as "open" so that allows anyone to join. This individual, if he really is an Eddy, must have scanned all the ESPN teams for something with Eddy in the title. I guess she's/he's found a basketball home.

Susan and I spent the weekend at French Lick Resort Casino. Our time was filled with some pretty fine dining, taking in the beautiful details at the French Lick resort and the nearby West Baden resort, and gambling (overall we came up losers but we had some good runs). The high point of the trip, however, was that we got engaged!


I proposed yesterday. Susan knew I was in the process of shopping for a ring but I had dropped several hints that I hadn't made any moves yet. It was in the morning and we were idling in our hotel room a little. Susan is left handed so I asked her if an engagement ring went on a person's left hand even if they were left handed (hoping it would sound like something that just popped into my head) and she told me that it did. I said, "So it's like this?", slipped the ring on her finger, and asked if she'd marry me.

President Obama: "I Like Purdue"

At the ESPN website there's an extended video clip of President Obama filling in his bracket with ESPN's Andy Katz. You should check it out; he's relaxed, funny, and very knowledgable about the game. He picks Purdue to win its first two games but to lose to Conneticut in the third. Quoth the Pres: "I like Purdue. Purdue is coming on strong."

Not to nag or anything, but we've only got four players in Eddy's Can't Jump, and three of them are in Michigan. Can we get any more Hoosier Eddys? You've got till noon tomorrow!

Obama Has Done His Bracket--Have You?

President Obama, in the midst of crises almost beyond number, has found the time to fill out his NCAA bracket at ESPN. Here's an article on the First Hoopster's choices. Now if our President thinks it is important to take a stand on March Madness, shouldn't we, as good Democrats, follow his lead? Do your bit! Join Eddys Can' t Jump; follow the instructions below.

Third Annual Eddy NCAA Competition

It's that time of year again when basketball mania seizes the otherwise tranquil Eddys and sets them into fierce competition with their own kith and kin. To facilitate this process we have once again created a team on the ESPN NCAA Tournament Challenge; this year the team is Eddys Can't Jump. Here's how you get into the action:

1. Go to www.espn.com. Mouse over Fantasy and Games then click on Tournament Challenge.
2. Click on Register Now in the upper right corner. If you've not particpated before you'll need to register. If you have, you can sign in with your email and password from last year.
3. Then click on Create an Entry. You can fill out your bracket at this point, or you can . . .
4. Select Join a Group and type in Eddys Can't Jump, join the group, and then fill in your bracket.

You've got to get your bracket completed by Thursday noon or you'll miss all the cutthroat competition!

Michael's Project Hits Local Newspaper

Turns out Michael's talents are more than musical. An article in today's Journal and Courier focuses on a project developed by him and his friend Sam Rainwater. Their project compresses scrap paper into a log form that can be burned or composted. It was demonstrated both at their school and at Purdue last week. You can read the article here.

Face book vs. Talking Eds?

It has been such a long time between postings!I hope face book has not replaced this spot. Some of us seem to be making plans for going to Ky. to see Paul doing Shakespeare! Have I not told you we are (make that you are) a talented bunch.
