Pooling Pictures of Karen's Wedding

At Max's suggestion, I've create a group in FlickR ( a photo-sharing site) where family members can post their photos of Karen's wedding and we can have them all in one spot. To do this I have to invite you post your pictures and so far I've invited Jamie, Steve, and Rob. If others of you have pictures you'd like to post, let me know and I'll get you an invititation. I've put 20 of our photos (mostly taken by Max) onto the group site. Here is the URL: http://www.flickr.com/groups/karenandallenwedding/. When you arrive at the page, click on "Pool" to see all the pictures contributed by everyone (hopefully more than just me). It appears you have to have a FlickR account and be signed in with it to see all the pictures in the pool. If this gets too complicated, we'll do it another way.

Whoops...

Well, I bought a leatherman today, and, small boy instinct took over and I tried to cut a Crab apple. The result being: Two numbing shots (The shots that actually hurt), 3 stitches, a swollen finger, and I can't get it wet for 5-7 days. At least there was no amputation needed...

A Wonderful Day

What a lovely day! The bride was radiant, the groom proud and handsome. The barn was decked out beautifully and full of family and friends. The flowers were gorgeous. The children were happy, the adults sipped wine, and the cool people did line dances. The maid of honor gave an absolutely wonderful toast, perfect in content, tone, and delivery. There were tears and laughter, and we were reminded, as weddings are meant to do, that love and family are the most precious gifts of all.

This is a post about rock music.

For those of you who have not seen the basement at my and Phil’s new house, I think the best way to describe it is – how Mike put it – an “opium trip.” Graffiti is splashed all over the place, and the landlord said a previous tenant rehearsed with his band down there. Yes, this post is about Mank Rage.

After Max found their MySpace page, I decided to do more research. Paul Tobias played guitar for the band, which had its hey-day about fifteen years ago. Tobias, a native of Indianapolis, was childhood friends in Lafayette with the likes of Axl Rose and Shannon Hoon. He later went on to be kind of a ghost member of Guns ‘n Roses and has toured with them the last couple of years.

I took a chance and sent him a message via MySpace (… I hate MySpace, by the way). Now, real members of Guns ‘n Roses probably don’t respond to messages, but apparently their occasional rhythm guitar player does:

“Yes, that was my house. We jammed in the basement from 1988 to around 90.... We did alot of cool artwork in the basement but from what I hear whoever lived there after us painted over alot of it...they did keep the Mank Rage thing going …Yes, Axl came down a couple of times when he was back in town...I have a picture of him standing down there.”

I’m not even a fan of Axl Rose, but… HA! Celebrity in my HOUSE!
