Caleb with Mohawk

Caleb with mohawk. Is this a family first?

All the swim team did this on Thursday (their female coach did all the shaving), just for fun, and then the next day they shaved completely in preparation for the JV Invitiational in Zionsville today. He won two events, his relay team won another. Look for video coming soon.

Next week: Robyn swims 4 events in varsity Sectional! Her coach has called her the freshman speed demon. Apparently, some orange and blue dying of hair tips is involved.

Sarah in Washington for Cross Award

Sarah arrived in Washington DC on Wednesday night to receive the Patricia Cross Award at the national convention of the American Association of Colleges and Universities. Here is the AACU's announcement, which includes a profile of each awardee. The 10 awardees from around the nation were recognized at the opening day ceremonies on Thursday morning and presented a session called Faculty of the Future: Voices of the Next Generation later Thursday morning. Here is the program for the event; the opening ceremony is on page 8 and the Cross awardees' forum is on page 9. (I've archived this document in Google Docs. Use the slider on the left to get to the pages.)

Phillip joined her this morning for a weekend of hanging out in DC.

Her parents are very proud.

Tomorrow, Phillip will attempt to eat this loaf of bread in one sitting. At stake are $10, and his honor. Read more over at the Fort Eddy blog.

Stay tuned.

Radio Essay by Steve, 12/22/11

Here's Steve's most recent essay, this one on the perils of timekeeping, both real and imagined, at high school football games. Note that WBAA has changed the format of their website, so things look a little different.

A Yuletide Mystery

Now here is a mystery: The baby in my nativity set has been replaced by a picture of three of my grandsons. The shepherds, the wise men, the angel are all bowing down before the picture. I'm not suggesting that any of the boys in the picture would do that, but it has the name of one of them written all over this. Confession, anyone?
