Steve's Essay on WBAA

Mom alluded to Steve's audio essay that was on WBAA. It aired Saturday and Sunday on a new local news show that was soliciting for audio essays. Steve submitted and next thing he knew he was behind a microphone. His essay is a nostalgic recollection of attending Purdue football games as a kid with Dad, inspired by Steve's taking Ian to his first Purdue game on his eighth birthday. Since many of you didn't hear it live, I've linked it here. There's a brief lead in by an announcer. Enjoy.

oops!

I tried to post the 2nd one, but I clicked on something wrong and it only published my title. Then after publishing the 2nd one, I see it published the first one too. Sorry about that!

Who is this mad genius?

Why is this guy not related to us?

The thanks in thanksgiving

We Eddys have a lot to be thankful for this thanksgiving, In the last few weeks Robyn won second in a speech meet, Melissa made teacher of the year, Steve read an essay on WBBA about attending football games with his Dad and then with Ian, Miles got the lead role in his school's musical, Matt's band is doing great, Jacob had a fantastic Halloween costume, Max and Claire carved a great jack -o-lantern and Jamie and Chris and Steve helped get Obama elected! And the rest of the clan are all multi-talented, beautiful people who make their mother/grandmother proud!
Please update this with any things I haven't heard about.

Video of Matt's Band

The Likeable Inbetween, Matt's band, has posted several performance videos on its MySpace page, which you can access here. In the fourth video clip down from the top, former Broken Finger groupie Lisa Eddy puts in a cameo appearance, still making the music scene.

Robyn's Speech Team Takes County!

Robyn's speech team unseated the evil trash-talkin' East Tipp Middle School to win the "Best Overall" for the 2008 season. This is the first time in 15 years any school has beaten East Tipp. On this last meet, Robyn and her friend Katie won second place in their duo. Over the course of the season, they got a 4th, a 3rd and a 1st place. She also won 8th place for her drama speech. She had previously won a 6th, 5th and 4th place.
Grandma Eddy was there to witness the tearful celebration.

Robyn trick or treats as...

...a nine foot tall Goth Fairy!
PS Uncle Mike, Robyn would like to be added as a contributor. Can you refresh my memory on how she gets added?

Jacob trick or treats as..

...a movie theater floor!

Jack o' lanterns

Here are our pumpkins, Max. Jacob designed one on left, Robyn the one in the middle. Caleb carved his first pumpkin on the right.

And it's not Halloween until you've watched the Wishbone version of "Legend of Sleepy Hollow."

Behind the Scenes

After Tuesday's wonderful, and more importantly, decisive win for Obama, who doesn't want to get the poop on what was going on behind all the glitz, glam, and production that is politics in America?

Enter Newsweek and their seven-part 50,000 word series on just that subject. Newsweek embedded reporters in the campaign, with lots of access to the candidates and their staff, for a year. The only catch was that none of what they observed would be published until after the election.

I've read about half of the whole thing so far and it is fascinating. The campaigns work so hard to make their candidates into nothing more than a collection of statements, but these reports reveal the humanity of America's decision makers.
