Just a Guy and His Shotgun

In an interview in the February 11 New Republic President Obama was asked if he had ever shot a gun, and the President responded "Yes, in fact, up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time." In our current political atmosphere his statement generated considerable skepticism, so Press Secretary Jay Carney tweeted the photograph below. My impression was that you typically shot skeet when they are up in the sky, which would suggest that the gun should actually be pointed up. Maybe the President is taking a little break from skeet and knocking off a stray Taliban operative.

Cardinals on a Snowy Morning

The ash tree in out backyard serves as a staging area for customers of our birdfeeder. This morning there were five male cardinals biding their time. There were a bunch of other birds that don't stand out. iPhone cameras just don't get great resolution.
