Engineering in her DNA?
Julia spent a few days building a balloon popper, inspired by the picture in a book. It's kind of a "Mouse Trap"-style contraption. She used a marble track, some spoons, a ball, rulers, a Thomas the Tank Engine wooden train, some dominoes, K'Nex, and most importantly, a thumb tack. You can check out the video of her final triumph here.

She better come to Purdue and participate in the national Rube Goldberg competition. It's a contest of engineering students who have to build contraptions that take at least 50 steps to accomplish a simple task , like unscrewing a light bulb. Purdue engineers have won several times. Julia, we'll make you a star! (Tell your parents to start saving up for Purdue right away! We're expensive!)
Oh man, I love Rube Goldberg.
Several thousand points for "awesome," Julia.
