Talking Eds Competition Heats Up as the NCAA Finale Approaches

With the Final Four playing this weekend, fates continue to rise and fall on the Talking Eds B-ball Smackdown. The results of last weekend's games, vaulted Phillip 1,422,602 spots to 357,431st place and the lead among the TalkingEds, surpassing both his uncle Chris and his own father (sigh). He did so by "conservatively" picking all four No. 1 seeds for the Final Four, perhaps in blissful ignorance that such a seemingly obvious outcome has never happened before in NCAA tournament history. Chris dropped 865,055 places in the rankings, landing at 1,355,342nd place. While slipping to second place in the TalkingEds competition, Mike rose 56,000 places to 789,746th place. Continuing their unlikely tandem work, Steve and Jamie ascended from a tie at 2,105,534th place to a tie at the 1,450,453rd spot. What are the odds? Miles tumbled 209,895 spots to the 1,989,928th slot. And Max, defiant predictions of victory not withstanding, fell from the three-way tie with Steve and Jamie, plummeting to place number 2,912,150. Sadly, Max has no more possible points, making it pretty likely that, paraphrasing the Bible, the last shall remain the last.

Will the whippersnapper continue to dominate the savvy elders? Will the odds-defying Big Dance of Steve and Jamie continue? Will all the laws of the physical universe collapse and Max somehow become the winner in some incomprehensible Bizzaro universe? Stay tuned . . .

Now wait a minute, you're accusing me of conservative picks and in the same sentence saying I predicted something that has never occurred in the history of the NCAA.

There's nothing conservative about that. It's downright revolutionary.

Well, at least I got to watch myself fall out of contention on my dad's new 47" high-def flatscreen.
