Thursday's Ocular Adventure
I took Mom back to Dr. Schraut this afternoon. Her vision seems to be getting a little better. She said she could see Dad moving if he passed in front of her. She was a little concerned because she was seeing "floaters." Schraut thought that was good--that she was seeing them; he said they were bits of infectous matter that had been there all along and she just hadn't been able to see them. They will go away as the infection clears up. He said the eye itself seems to be clearing up; when he looked into her eye Tuesday he could see almost nothing. Today he could see quite a bit. She got another shot of antibiotics in her eye but didn't have much trouble with it. Schraut thinks that shot will be the end of the treatment; from this point it is just watching to see how much damage was done to the retina by the infection. He reiterated that this would take weeks to determine. She sees him again next Tuesday. I'll probably hold off further posts on this unless there's some definitive development.
