Another Year, Another Shining Light

Once again the annual Volunteer Recognition Banquet was headlined by, as the Journal and Courier put it, "the prestigious Marcile Eddy Shining Light Award." The paper goes on to say "The Marcile Eddy Shining Light Award is named after Marcile Eddy, who founded the Greater Lafayette Volunteer Bureau that now operates as the United Way of Greater Lafayette Volunteer Center. This award honors volunteers who have had a significant impact on the community and who have been an inspiration to other volunteers." I'm pretty sure Mom didn't found the Bureau, but it makes a better news story. You can read the whole article here.
